Our operations respect the environment
Our commitment to a low-carbon economy has been recognized by CDP, an independent organization and reference standard for environmental reporting.
In December 2025, Cementir was confirmed for the second time in the prestigious CDP “A list” that recognises the strategies and actions of companies to mitigate climate change and embrace the concept of corporate transparency. This result underlines the significant progress made by Cementir in five years, and from the initial rating of “B” in 2020.
Cementir has also maintained its leadership in CDP Water Security with an A- score for or the fourth consecutive year.
In 2024, the Science Based Target initiative (SBTi) validated Cementir's near and long-term decarbonization targets aligned with the 1.5° framework scenario. In addition, SBTi also approved Cementir’s overall net-zero emissions target by 2050.

Carbon Capture and Storage
ACCSION Project in Denmark
We are committed to developing Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) as the ultimate solution to achieve our Net Zero ambition by 2050.
The ACCSION project is the first carbon capture industrial project and one of the first and largest full onshore carbon capture and storage value chains featuring inland geological storage in Denmark.
Emissions reduction at every stage of the process
We participate to international round tables and partnership with institutions and governments to find the most effective solutions to tackle climate change, optimize the positive effects of existing technologies and study product and process innovations that will lead to the production of "net zero emissions" cement.
Our ambition is to reduce the intensity of CO₂ emissions by acting at every stage of production.
Our goals for CO2 reduction
We work to reduce our environmental impact throughout the value chain, from procurement to manufacturing, logistics and distribution. We actively collaborate with local communities, suppliers and customers, with non-governmental organizations and all local stakeholders.
Carbon intensity reduction targets (Scope 1) to 2030:
- 418 kg of CO2 per tonne of grey cement
- 730 kg of CO2 per tonne of white cement
Responsible and efficient use of water
Starting with water-scarce areas as a priority, we promote the sustainable use of water across all of our activities. We are strongly committed to reducing water consumption and increasing water reused/recycled (e.g., improving drainage and collecting rainwater to reuse/recirculate a portion of water).
We aim to minimize water withdrawal and wastewater discharge, reduce losses and to promote efficient water management practices.
Protection and conservation of natural habitats and respect for biodiversity
During 2025 Cementir defined a structured, repeatable methodological framework based on scientific evidence for the identification, evaluation and management of dependencies, impacts, risks and opportunities related to nature within the Group’s operations. The process followed the recommendations of the Taskforce on Nature‑related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) in tangible operational processes, ensuring that biodiversity and ecosystem aspects were systematically integrated into risk governance, strategic decision‑making processes and long-term value creation.
We are part of the solution: we protect and restore the natural resources we rely on. 100% of our quarries already have a conversion plan in place. We reuse the water used in the production processes and collect rainwater in some dedicated areas of the plants. In 2025, we recycled 32% of the water used in cement production.
We promote the circular economy
25% of the thermal energy needed in our cement production process comes from alternative fuels. By 2030 our goal is to increase this to 35% globally- reaching 53% in grey cement production and 8% in white cement production. t.
In 2025 we produce 13,289 tons of waste-derived fuel.
