Rome, 18 July 2022 – Cementir Holding announces today that it has joined the United Nations (UN) Global Compact, the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative, with the aim of developing a more responsible business, respectful of human and labor rights, promoting environmental protection and anti-corruption initiatives.

The UN Global Compact is a call to member companies to align their strategies and operations with the United Nations Ten universally accepted principles on human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption and take actions that advance societal goals.

"We are proud to confirm Cementir support of the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact, in an effort to further accelerate our sustainability engagement," said Francesco Caltagirone jr., Chairman and CEO of Cementir Holding. "Cementir sustainability roadmap has been developed to strategically align with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. With this membership, we will continue our commitment to implement responsible practices for the environment and the communities in which we live and work."

Participation in the UN Global Compact requires signatories to report on their commitment to the universal sustainability principles and development goals on a yearly basis. Cementir annual Sustainability Report will outline the company’s ongoing efforts and progress.

The UN Global Compact boasts more than 15,000 companies and 3,800 non-business signatories based in over 160 countries.
